FAQ

Where do you shoot?

Studio and outdoor locations available. Before your session, we’ll discuss clothing, location, poses, and share ideas to make sure we’re not simply taking photos, but capturing YOUR moment.

Where are you based and do you travel?

Kathy Alene Photography is based in San Antonio, Texas, and proudly serves Austin and surrounding San Antonio areas. Have a story to tell somewhere beyond those locations? I’d be happy to travel to capture it. Additional travel fees may apply based on the location and distance. Sessions requiring an overnight stay will also include applicable travel and lodging expenses.

When will we get our photos?

You won't have to wait long for a first look! A few sneak peek images will be delivered within 5 days of your session or event. Your completed online gallery will be delivered within 8 weeks for portrait sessions and events, and within 12 weeks for weddings. Turnaround times are often shorter depending on the season.

Your complete online gallery will be delivered within 8 weeks, although it is often ready sooner depending on the season and my current photography schedule.

From your gallery, you’ll be able to download all of your photos and share them with family and friends,

How many pictures will we receive?

Every session is different, so there isn't a set number of photographs you'll receive. I focus on quality rather than meeting a specific image count and will carefully select and professionally edit the strongest photographs from your session or event. Your finished gallery will tell the story of your time in front of my camera without unnecessary duplicates.

Can I change outfits?

Absolutely! Outfit changes are available depending on the type and length of your session. Some sessions include multiple looks, while others offer an additional outfit as an add-on. We’ll discuss your ideas before your session so we can make the most of our time together.

When is the best time to schedule our photo session?

Early morning and the hours closer to sunset often provide beautiful, flattering light for outdoor sessions. However, the best time also depends on your location, the type of session, and the look we’re creating. We’ll choose a time that works for you while making the most of the available light.

Can you suggest photo locations?

Absolutely! Choosing the right location is part of planning your session. I can recommend locations based on the look and feel you'd like for your photographs, and I've created a Location Guide featuring some of my favorite photography locations to help inspire you.

do you have liability insurance?

Yes. Kathy Alene Photography is fully insured and carries general liability insurance. A Certificate of Insurance can be provided to venues upon request.

May I change my session time/package on the "day of"?

Changes to your session time or photography package should be made in advance whenever possible. Same-day changes cannot be guaranteed and will depend on my availability, the location, and the type of coverage requested. Additional photography time may be added when scheduling permits and will be charged at the applicable rate.

how do i reserve my date?

Your date is officially reserved once your signed photography agreement and required retainer have been received. Retainer amounts vary depending on the photography service you select and are applied toward your total investment.

what happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

Weather can be unpredictable, but we’ll keep an eye on the forecast as your session approaches. If the weather makes it unsafe or impractical to photograph outdoors, we’ll discuss the best option, whether that means adjusting the time, choosing an alternate location, or rescheduling your session. My goal is to make the best decision for both your experience and your photographs.

can i bring my pet?

Absolutely! Four-legged family members are welcome to join your session. Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a pet-friendly location and plan accordingly. Bringing a favorite treat or toy can also help us get their attention when it’s time for their close-up.

Can family members join my senior/graduation session?

Absolutely! Parents or immediate family members are welcome to step in for a few photographs during your senior or graduation session. The session will still focus primarily on the graduate, but I’m happy to capture a few photographs with the people who helped you reach this milestone.

Do you provide RAW or unedited photographs?

No. RAW and unedited photographs are not included in your final gallery. I carefully select the strongest images from our time together and professionally edit each photograph chosen for final delivery. Your gallery is a finished collection that reflects both your story and the quality of work you hired me to create.

Can I print my photographs?

Absolutely! Your final gallery includes high-resolution digital files that you may download and print for personal use. For the best quality and color accuracy, I recommend ordering professional prints directly through your online gallery.
